Hospitalization for children with congenital heart diseases both after surgical operations and during pre-surgery period if this is deemed necessary.

The Unit

This Unit offers hospitalization for children with congenital heart diseases both after surgical operations and during pre-surgery period if this is deemed necessary. The Unit is staffed with specialized pediatricians (intensivists, anesthesiologists, pedo-cardiologists and cardio-surgeons) as well as nursing personnel. It offers equipment for controlling body functions, as well as state-of-the-art equipment for circulatory support.

The medical team is offered the capability to monitor the patients, even through the Internet. Hospitalization in the ICU is performed under specific conditions in order to avoid intrahospital infections. The Pediatric Cardiosurgical ICU employs the most advanced techniques for patient monitoring (either interventional or not), with emphasis given in the evaluation of heart function. At the same time, the other body systems (brain, kidneys, liver, haemostatic mechanism) are also monitored.

This way, the highest-degree safety is provided for the hospitalization of patients suffering from heart diseases.
