Event on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medicine” by MITERA

The latest developments in the world of artificial intelligence in Medicine were presented at the event organized by MITERA on “Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Medicine”, on Thursday, December 7 at the “N. Louros” Conference Centre.

The event was welcomed by the Minister of Digital Governance, Mr. Dimitris Papastergiou, who spoke about the present and future of AI in the health sector.  Mr. Papastergiou underlined the key importance that the new supercomputer “Daedalus” will have for the medical and research community, both for the development of personalized treatments and for understanding the creation and evolution of epidemics.

At the same time, the participants had the opportunity to attend the speeches of experts on issues related to the development of artificial intelligence in medicine, legal and ethical issues that arise during its application, and they were presented with the AI projects of the Breast Imaging Department of MITERA in the context of breast screening, as well as of the Embryology Laboratory of the HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis Unit, which is the most advanced laboratory in Greece and one of the best in the world in the field of IVF.

The event was attended by Mr. Vassilios Sioulas, Gynecological Oncologist, Director of the 1st Gynecological Oncology Clinic and Chairman of the Scientific Council of MITERA, Mr. Nikolaos Spyridis, Deputy Professor of Pediatric Infectious Diseases, Director of the Pediatric Clinic of MITERA, Mr. Petros Papachristou, Director of Information Systems of HHG, Mr. Alexandros Papaspyridis, International Business Advisor, Flywheel.io, Mr. Athanasios Papageorgakis, Head of Legal Services of HYGEIA Group, Ms. Alexandra Athanasiou, Radiologist, Director of Breast Imaging Department of MITERA, EUSOBI Executive Board and Mr. Ioannis Sfontouris, Embryologist, Director of the Embryology Laboratory of HYGEIA IVF Embryogenesis.
