Research:

The focus of my research naturally mirrors my clinical responsibilities: obstetric analgesia, cervical pathology in relation to pregnancy outcomes and infertility.   Although the grant funding in my country has been modest, through the Hellenic Academic Group of Cervical Pathology, I have managed to contribute in quite a number of clinical studies important to this field which have been awarded abroad. In particular, I have participated in investigating the proportion of the cervical excision and the relation with the pregnancy outcome; the fertility and the pregnancy outcomes after treatment for cervical intraepithelial neoplasia; the accuracy of the new technology of biospectroscopy analysis to identify underlying disease comparing with the conventional cervical screening; the evaluation of HPV biomarkers and their significance for women that need cervical intervention. I have contributed to the introduction of intracellular HPV E6/E7 mRNA expression in cervical cancer screening programs with flow cytometry assay in Greek women and the evaluation of p16/ki67 dual-stain cytology as a triage tool for ascus and Low Grade Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions cytology results. My review publication of the 22 years’ experience of the technique of the large loop excision of the transformation zone in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia has reached more 150 citation worldwide (https://www.researchgate.net). Furthermore, I am regularly invited to speak to relevant congresses and share my research and also as a reviewer, to evaluate articles and abstracts for journals and national and international congresses (official reviewer for RCOG 2019, 2020). Recently, as a faculty member of WCM-Q I have contributed as Principle Investigator to the grant application (NPRP 13S-0114-200066) with the title: Diet effect on the Follicular Cells Metabolism: towards Personalized Nutrition in Assisted Reproductive Technologies (2021-2023).
