Lipid Clinic

The MITERA Children’s Hospital Lipid Clinic specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of children with cholesterol and triglyceride disorders.

The Clinic

These disorders may lead to arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arterial walls) and may increase the risk of a person developing cardiovascular diseases and cerebrovascular accidents in the future. Very high triglyceride levels may also lead to pancreatitis.

The Lipid Clinic focuses on diagnosing genetic/hereditary cholesterol disorders and treating them on time, aiming at primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases, cerebrovascular accidents and pancreatitis.
Our dedicated team consists of a pediatric endocrinologist and a pediatric nutritionist. It works with each patient individually and introduces changes to their nutritional and exercise regimen. If deemed necessary, it administers medications that lower cholesterol, but only after careful consideration and based on international guidelines for treating hypocholesterolemia in children.
